Happy National Cat Day 10/29/22

Buddy greets you for National Cat Day! Buddy is a wonderful retired stud from Betsy and Stan of Belle Hollow Farm and Exotics. His favorite thing to do is spoon with me in the bed and purr super loud. When I won’t let him under the covers he sits above my pillow and stares, purring even louder!

Responsible breeders are the best and I am so grateful. Belle Hollow Farm and Exotics are actively involved in rescue, rehoming, neutering and spaying pets, breeding animals with superior health and personalities, staying up to date on genetics and health issues, while helping folks find just the right cats. They have a lot of knowledge about the Savannah breed and also offer a superior program for Egyptian Maus.

Dreamtime For Kitties 6/10/17

Today has been lovely and quiet.  While the tomatoes wait to be planted, everyone rests from a busy week.  The spotted kitty is handicapped.  She is an early generation Savannah and has a birth defect that affects her back legs.  She still manages to get around, though.

Pollinators and Passings 10/23/14

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.”
~ Martha Graham

October 23, 2013 sigThursday, October 23, 2014 –  Today was very sad because one of my kitties crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  He was one of my special needs cats and his seizure condition was getting worse and starting to cause him pain. After having my old black cat put down a few weeks ago, it has been a sad October.  It is the 23rd day of the month long poetry challenge and I have photos of a hoverfly and a honeybee.  RIP Dorzie (this very next photo was taken at the end of 2012).  I was very blessed to have him in my life and he was a super sweet and kind soul.  He was the friend of everyone he met and despite having grand mal seizures when he slept and feline cerebellar hyperplasia (like the cat in the video at the top of this post) was a happy fellow and an ambassador cat (F3 Savannah).

More New Canine Friends and One Gratuitous Cat ~ 2/9/13

Yesterday I did make it out for my walk and in this post I’d just like to focus on the new friends I made.  All the friends were of the canine persuasion and the first I’d like you to meet is Sam as she was the first dog I saw on my journey.

This is Sam, a female golden retriever on February 9, 2013.

This is Sam, a female golden retriever on February 9, 2013.

The style of leash that Sam is wearing is called a halter lead and it is not a type of muzzle.  Sam was very friendly and my husband and I enjoyed petting her.

The next encounter was with Gisli.

Meet Gisli, a female blue healer, from February 9, 2013.

Meet Gisli, a female blue healer, from February 9, 2013.

Gisli’s was wearing a halter lead also and her master explained that her name is Icelandic.  He also said that he found out that Gisli was an outlaw in Icelandic mythology and folklore. He encourage us to make a visit there and said it is a super awesome place.

Our last friend for yesterday is Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones a black Labrador Retriever on February 9, 2013.

Indy lives a few houses from us and is super friendly and nice.  His master adopted him from a Super Pet Adoption event about four years ago. The hyperlink is from Best Friends’.

Speaking of Super Pet Adoption, my husband and I adopted Velvet from such an event that was held at PetSmart about nine years ago.  Velvet was being fostered by CAWS.  This is Velvet:

Velvet, female mixed breed black cat adopted by Raven many years ago.

Velvet has given us many years of love.  We encourage everyone to check out adopting a pet from a local shelter, rescue, or adoption organization.

Many purebred animals need homes, too. To look for a dog check with the American Kennel Club.  To find a purebred cat CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) has a breed rescue page and TICA (The International Cat Association) links to the Purebred Cat Breed Rescue Page. When donating money to any animal cause be sure that it is going to directly benefit your local humane society, shelter, or animal rescue organization.  Don’t be fooled into giving money to a national group that doesn’t actually support the local shelters.  It can also be helpful to become aware of the issues surrounding homeless pets.
