Yellow Flowers 5-15-17

I saw a hawk today in the maple tree that overhangs my yard.  It had prey.  A large (relative to the sizes of finches and robins) bird landed on the other side of the trunk and I believe it was another hawk and perhaps the mate of the one I could see. I wasn’t able to get a look because of where it settled in the maple. They both took off as I tried to get closer for photos.

In and Out Like a Lamb – The Last Days of March – 3.26.15 through 3.31.15

March came and then left like a lamb this year with unseasonably warm temperatures that averaged around 20 degrees F above normal, little precipitation, and setting at least one record breaking day for heat.  February was also well above normal average temperatures.

Monday, March 17, 2015 – Today was another unseasonably warm day that started off clear and sunny and developed into clouds.  I saw my first butterflies, a checkered white (no photo of that one) and an orange one that I think is a silver bordered frittilary.  If you click on the photos you can see that one has a ladybug at the bottom of the dandelion where the orange butterfly is sipping nectar.  I also have my neighbors’ Buddha dressed up for St. Paddy’s Day and if you look closely at the horizontal photo you can see a jumping spider photo bombing his hat.  A dove and a robin grace the day, along with tulips, plum blossoms, and a honeybee bum (at the top of the page).

MDT.  This is a quote from a local newspaper, “The warm temperatures are nearly 20 degrees warmer than normal temperatures for mid-March.” This made it a lovely day for sangha in the park and listening to and sharing wise words about our mindfulness practice and compassion.  We also learned about and practiced walking meditation.  I want to express heartfelt gratitude to our wonderful Practice Leader, Mr. Christopher “Myoshin” Ross-Leibow, and his lovely wife, Linnea, for their work service and also to the rest of the members of the Sangha. where we are truly welcome to “come as we are”.
