“Don’t worry if you feel you can only do one tiny good thing in one small corner of the cosmos. Just be a Buddha body in that one place.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh Flashback Tuesday, September 18, 2012 – This was my high point for today, capturing this black bee (carpenter bee) in a picture! I’ve tried to get one all season and they are quick and elusive. For some reason this one kept going to the base of my petunias for nectar and I got my chance 🙂 Flashback Wednesday, September 18, 2013 – This is my pick photo for today and it stars a little native bee on an aster. Thursday, September 18, 2014 – I looked out my back door this morning and saw a couple of wolf spiders had made webs and were getting ready to mate. I was able to get the male through the glass, then went outside. I also found one back in the grass (a female). I think it must be mating season for these spiders. I also saw a couple of flower (aka hover) flies. “Like delicate lace,
So the threads intertwine,
Oh, gossamer web
Of wond’rous design!
Such beauty and grace
Wild nature produces…
Ughh, look at the spider
Suck out that bug’s juices!”

Occasional a bird grabs a pollinator for a snack. “Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”

Flashback Monday, June 25, 2012 – This is a little leafhopper on a sunflower leaf and it was incredibly tiny and I feel very grateful to have gotten this clear photo with all the wind. The bright colors are amazing and this is my pick photo for today. Flashback Tuesday, June 25, 2013 – This is my pick photo for today and it stars a young grasshopper on some spearmint. Wednesday, June 25, 2014 – Today was a red letter day and we saw the very first Monarch butterfly caterpillar ever in our milkweed. We believe we’ve had others we’ve just never seen them. So we are doing a happy dance 🙂 The other photos also feature milkweed community members. You’ll have to look carefully at one of the photos to see the white spider. “Happiness is as a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne “Love is like a butterfly, it goes where it pleases and it pleases where it goes.”

Flashback Tuesday, June 19, 2012 – This is my pick photo for June 19th and stars the bright blue damselfly that I think is a male. I love how I was able to get close enough for these shots of the damselflies and think that this damselfly is stunning!
Flashback Wednesday, June 19, 2013 – This is my pick photo for today and it stars a native bee visiting my backyard larkspur 🙂
Thursday, June 19, 2014 – Lots of pollinators in my neighbor’s coreopsis and a grasshopper, too 🙂 “My mind was once the true survey
Of all these meadows fresh and gay;
And in the greenness of the grass
Did see its hopes as in a glass.”
~ Andrew Marvell “Therefore am I still
A lover of the meadows and the woods,
And mountains; and of all that we behold
From this green earth; of all the mighty world
Of eye, and ear, both what they half create
And what perceive.”
