January 6, 2014Friday, February 6, 2015 – The hazel catkins have unfurled and are full of pollen.  Rain is expected and the wind has been blowing.  The temperatures have been mild enough that, despite the wind, some of the ladies have been out gathering the hazel pollen.  Honeybees gather pollen for the baby bees.  Hazel and other wind pollinated plants offer valuable protein for the young and growing next generation of bees.
