Flashback Sunday, October 14, 2012 – This is my pick photo for today and it stars the autumn colour on my neighbor’s tree. I don’t know what kind of tree it is but it has a nice diversity of reds, golds/yellows and greens with a little purple thrown in. I really love the soft colours in this picture the parts that are in and also out of focus.

Octobe 14, 2013 sigTuesday, October 14, 2014 – My last datura blossom is going to open this evening and I have some calendula photos.  In a couple a native bee is visiting.  Here is one of the poetry prompts from day 14 of the month long poetry challenge.  The topic is “poets who went before.”  Though this line doesn’t necessarily go with the photos it does go with some of my work in pollinator activism.  First a couple of photos followed by the prompt.  I don’t kill the aphids shown in the photos and this goes against the grain of the yard/lawn poison addiction that many people have.  Aphids are high on the list of insects considered pests, but they are also part of the food chain and benefit many insects.
