Apache Plume 10/10/14

“Man is not himself only…He is all that he sees; all that flows to him from a thousand sources…He is the land, the lift of its mountain lines, the reach of its valleys”
~ Mary Austin

Flashback Wednesday, October 10, 2012 – This is my pick photo and it stars a little goldfinch eating fennel seed in the parking strip in front of my house.
October 10, 2012 sigFlashback Thursday, October 10, 2013 – This is my pick photo for today and it stars a hummingbird. It has to be one of the last migrators of the season. It was very shy. Just FYI leave your feeders up for at least 2 weeks after you see the last bird.
October 10, 2013 sigFriday, October 10, 2014 – Today I have the ethereal seed heads of Apache plume.  It is the 10th day of the month long poetry challenge and also World Mental Health Day.  I began this post with a TED Talk about mindfulness and depression.  I am one of the many creative people with mental health issues including depressive and anxiety disorders.  I also have many people in my circles of friends and family with mental illness, too.  It is time to end the stigma of these diseases and become progressive and compassionate in the treatment of those who suffer.  Here’s a great blog post to check out, one of many you can find on the internet from people sharing first hand experiences of what it is like living with mental illness.
