“Some people say you have to die to reach the kingdom of God or the Pure Land of the Buddha, but I don’t agree. In fact, you have to be very much alive!”

Flashback Saturday, September 15, 2012 – My pick photo for today stars this unusual looking red rose. I really like the mixed reds on the flower petals.
Flashback Sunday, September 15, 2013 – This is my pick photo for today and it stars one of my native melissodes bees (maybe agilis) on a sunflower 🙂
Monday, September 15, 2014 – Today I want to share a few photos of the watering station I have created and is now in it’s third year. I keep water flowing to it in all seasons so that wildlife and roaming pets can find an oasis of fresh water that they can count on year around. Birds, insects and other animals remember, so it is important to maintain it. Where I live a flowing water source is critical, especially in the summer and winter. You need it to flow in the winter so that it doesn’t freeze over.
This year I expanded mine so that it has two levels and also added more plants (including watercress), along with a salvaged broken metal plant stand to add levels of flowers for beauty and topped with a fushia for the hummingbirds. I also have feeders for the hummingbirds on the porch.
The area can be challenging because it is in shade most of the day but during very hot hours in the summer is in full sun for a short while. This means that plants must hold up during the heat and sunlight, but thrive in the shade. It is right next to the front porch and I utilize the steps for plants and also have many plants on the porch itself. I get many appreciative visitors 🙂
