Flashback Tuesday, March 20, 2012 – This is my pick photo of the day for Tuesday, March 20th. You can see the two fully open flowers on my homegrown orchid and below the one opening on the opposite side.
Thursday, March 20, 2014 – Happy Eostara! I celebrated the day with my some of my family. They took me to the local aviary for a lovely adventure and photos of birds. This is a southern lapwing. They are a type of plover and the northern variety is the bird that helped launched the folktales about the Easter Bunny. Lapwings lay their eggs in nests on the ground that resemble the forms used by hares. When people saw the lapwing eggs and also baby hares in nests that looked alike, they thought the hares hatched from the eggs.
We also had some lovely bird encounters and were asked to help this performer get used to an audience. This is a young roadrunner. The roadrunner is in the cuckoo family (an iconic spring bird in Europe).
We wish you many blessings in the waxing of the year and may you plant many wonderful seeds that add beauty to your life!
Our hearts give thanks for the Grace in the Universe!
