Coots, Cattails, and Clouds 1/30/14

Flashback Wednesday, January 30, 2012 – These two clouds caught my eye as the beautiful sunset unfolded this evening.

Thursday, January 30, 2014 – Today we’ve had stormy weather, though I didn’t see a lot of snow.  Mostly I saw clouds and a little snow on the ground and some rain.  The stars of today’s photos are coots with the addition of a little scenery.  The coots are very shy and really don’t care for joggers, walkers and photographers.  Some walkers came by and this is why they came and went so quickly.  The little coot vignette was at lunch and it was raining.  The bank of clouds were around close to sunset with the clouds enveloping the Wasatch Mountains by the time I was on my way.

To dwell in the here and now does not mean you never think about the past, or responsibly plan for the future. The idea is simply not to allow yourself to get lost in regrets about the past or worries about the future. If you are firmly grounded in the present moment, the past can be an object of inquiry, the object of your mindfulness and concentration. You can attain many insights by looking into the past, but you are still grounded in the present moment.
